Kangaroo Island

This large island raises can be found at short distance away from the southern coast of Australia ; its fauna is plethoric, seals, koalas, and naturally kangarooes, and its geography is surprising , especially the " Remarkable Rocks " of cape Couedic.

Kangaroo Island measures 4400 km2, or half of the surface of Corsica.
The bay known under the name of Seal Bay is the domain of 500 sea lions of the type " Australian Sea lion ", the scientific name Neophoca cinerea, a species which was hunted for a long time, and which has been completely protected since 1972.

In December, 2007, lightning started a fire which destroyed more than 60000 hectares of the vegetation of the island.

Kangaroo Island also possesses big dunes of sands, known as "Little Sahara" the visitors climb them under an overwhelming(crushing) sun, and enjoy tumbling down them on surfboards.
