Philippines

Antoine's view

The town of Manila suffered a lot during the second world war and even if the treasures of its historical district are worth spending a few days discovering, the city is so huge, so busy and polluted, it is best to leave as soon as possible.

Fortunately the country offers a large number of varied destinations; of which I only know a few, from the beaches of Boracay (which is a natural reserve in the Palawan islands) to the rice plantations of north Luçon and the unforgettable karstic rocks and lagoons which form the islands of El Nido.In this christian country with many muslim neighbors, on feast days they proudly celebrate by roasting a suckling pig turned on a spit.

The Filipinos are very passionate regarding their faith this can be seen in colourfull ceremonies full of character, such as the Moriones, ATI ATI Han's festivals, in Kalibo on the Panay island. I was also very charmed by the beach on the small island of Boracay, a place where I could spend a few weeks along the beach ...

The southern part of the archipelago is not very secure due to a religious conflicts, but routes of navigation allow one to travel without problem from one island to the other.
However sailing on a yacht is less evident, because in this part of the world, as opposed to the Caribbean and Polynesia, one can encounter a Cyclone (Typhoon) any time of the year.
