Corsica

Antoine's view

With a few tens of miles of French coastline belonging to the French littoral, Corsica, is more than just an island, more than just a nation? it's another world, unique, uncomparable, so very beautiful !

A good half of Corsican blood runs through my veins, that counts for a lot and my heartbeats more passionately than others?
Do not be surprised that on my visit to the native island of my father, where I spent my summers as a child that I become a little lyrical.
Initially like Corsicans, who were traditionally wary of the sea, I was initially only familiar with the mountain regions, which occupy most of the island, , nevertheless it was through my love of the sea, after many summer cruises that I discovered the island in its entirety ; discover one with me ; We will set sail from Bastia and circumvent the spectacular peninsula, cape Corsica, whose children have left to seek fortune on other continents ; off the coast of Nonza, we will have to beat against the Libecciu, whose cousin is the famous Mistral ; make a stopover
at Saint Floren where we will be able to visit the vineyards of Patrimonio and the Agriate desert, then on to Balagne, with its churches, olive trees and villages, an incontestable spot for eagles nests. From where we will be able to see the beautiful coastlines of L'ile Rousse and Calvi. Then passed the Revellata lighthouse, we will sail along the west coast to the amazing Scandola reserve, known for its rugged red rocks, then we will take shelter in the marvellous bay of Girolata, where we will discover 'Porto' and Les Calanques de Piana which are sure to take your breath away.

In Cargèse, the same priest officiates with the catholic and the orthodoxe churches nearby; In Ajaccio, lies the memory of two emperors, and a little more to the south in Filitosa or Palaggiu, rows of lined up menhirs, are testimony to five thousand years of Corsican civilization.
We could also have taken the Eastern route : which is less spectacular but the bays cut into the south of Port Vecchio are splendid ; finally by the east or the west, we reach the South of the island, where we find perched on a cliff Bonifacio, a deep and narrow fjord dominates, where the boats shelter; the Lavezzi islands, where the men of la Sémillante perished. Sardinia is close and Africa is not far away.

As Corsica is above all a beautiful mountain in the middle of the sea,I will take along to you on a small train called the trinichelu, which goes up towards Vivario, the village of my childhood, towards Corte, the capital of Paoli, then toward the forest of Castagniccia, the torrents of Restonica, the mountain lakes, and the unforgettable needles of Bavella. Come with me, embark quickly, we are leaving for Corsica!
