Ascension

For some curious reason, the South Atlantic is unaffected by cyclones; the trade winds practically never change direction : ?From St Helene to Ascension,? old sea dogs use to say, ?it's the best sailing?.The yachts coming from the Cape of Good Hope have the luxury of finding excellent shelter within these islands? which deserve a real stopover.

A few days sailing North-West from Saint Helena, I came across a landscape that had broken away from the moon and fallen into the ocean, it was on this occasion that I stayed ; this island is dedicated to the exploration of space, satellites and rockets, they are very strict who has access; many dormant volcanos are spread across the island, and it is only when you reach the highest peaks that the lunar landscape gives way to lush green hillsides.

If you should have the desire to visit more, you could perhaps take a plane to the Ascension island (a military plane leaves but also takes civilians to the Falklands)
