May 2024
Hello everyone,
Where is the summer?
Clearly, it's not summer yet; we did have a little heatwave, then a summer's day, but for the rest of the month, we froze in the Auvergne mountains, and even had a few snowflakes, a snow that even lasted on the ground a few minutes. On the weekend of the 14th, though, it was 30 degrees and more on the road, so we took the opportunity to have dinner at the restaurant run by my daughter Vaimiti and her partner, Jean-Rémi Caillon, who after their success (two Michelin stars) at K2 in Courchevel 1650, have set up new restaurants 200 m higher up, at Anapurna, and won their first star in their first year. I don't need to tell you about all the food we ate there! So, back in Auvergne, Francette outdid herself by making us some marvellous dishes: Mille feuilles de tomates, chou farci à sa manière, petits choux pistache, praliné or salted caramel, and lots of other wonders.
After that, we returned to Paris to start promoting our new book, Mettre les Voiles, the fourth edition, completely revised, enriched and this time with lots of color photos and, on the cover, a superb portrait of yours truly painted by famous French sailor and painter Titouan Lamazou. The book will be in bookshops from 16 May. I'm due to present it on C a vous on 7 May and on Télématin at the end of the month..
