NOVEMBER 2011
Hello everyone,
Our last letter left us in northern Montana, en route to Canada, to admire among other things the colors of Indian Summer in Québec ... it was fabulous, and friends who have lived there for thirty years had never seen such beautiful colors ...
And now we're back in France (where the fall colors are pretty neat this year as well, especially on my Auvergne mountains) to finally present to you the new works I told you about, and which are released this season : over the next weeks, you will find me a few times on your TV screen or your radio, to talk about them. You'll find on this website most of the audio or video recordings of these programs.
First, a book: after the success, two years ago, of the album "20 Paradises", Gallimard asked me to assemble in a new album the photos of the animals we have been fortunate enough to approach over the long years spent shooting the films in our series "Once upon an island". I immersed myself in our extensive catalog of digital photos (plus a few older ones) and selected a hundred animals that are somehow my personal "Noah's Ark, from the koala to the fairy tern, from soft corals to antelopes, from guanacos to gannets ... Only happy animals: do not count on me to photograph or film animals eating each other or endangered animals, for we turn our camera lenses only towards happiness and beauty). Rich in numerous anecdotes, often personal, always amazing, about the life and customs of these animals, the book is completed with a free DVD, including some of the footage of animals that make up our film "Naturellement ... Animals ".
Images and texts of this book will soon be part of an "App" for the Ipad, accompanying a small contest challenging you to discover the names of animals that, long before man, invented all sorts of progress, from the Echo-sounder to Meeting clubs, from the nursery to Holidays in Polynesia. This game will also be available on our website.
Another release, our series "Once upon an island HD" now includes a tenth film, dedicated to islands in the Indian Ocean: twenty years after the first film in the series we will visit again together Reunion Island, Mauritius and the Seychelles, all still beautiful. The DVD and the Blu-Ray disc are included ( in French, English and Italian), and the film can also be downloaded, either in its entirety, or region by region, on our online store.
