February 2007
Hello everyone,
Quite an adventure! I had left you, last month, on Tahiti's peninsula, then on an jet taking me back to Europe... It is on the roads of France that you find me, with my feet deep in snow: I am for six weeks in full tour, giving talks, zigzagging from The North to the South of France, from Geneva to Limoges; Winter, after taking its time, has suddenly come upon Massif Central, blocking roads and motorways, depriving many homes of electricity for three or four days; and to be able to reach our farm in Auvergne under the snow on a day off, a neighbour had to load us into the back of his tractor to cross the snow-drifts.
The extreme was reached for us in Guéret, where the streets resembled those of Old Quebec after a heavy snowfall! Those who came to attend the conference that evening were quite courageous!
It is a real pleasure to talk about Tahiti or Madagascar to the audiences who come to attend the talks, and my road through France brings back a lot of memories...
I'll be on tour until February 27, and a week later Arthaud will publish "Oh Yeah", the first volume of my autobiography (480 pages!). So I still have lots of work to do before I can join again Banana Split in April. But the warmth and enthusiasm of the audiences who attend the shows are invaluable for me in these cold periods!
At last, one finally begins to find some of my songs on musical download platforms: for the moment, only two albums published by Barclay (today a Universal label), the album "Touchez pas à la mer" (1987) and a compilation published in the collection "Story" a few years ago; I do not despair to obtain that my songs on the Vogue/RCA catalogue (from 1965 to 1967), today a property of Sony BMG, also one day become available!
So long, and see you soon on the pages of www.antoine.tv
