December 2018
Hello everyone,
A magical end of October: between two conferences in Saintes and Niort, we went to applaud our friend Laurent Voulzy on his tour of the churches and cathedrals of France ... In the church of St Jean d'Angely, lighted with taste and splendour, how wonderful to hear again his songs (that often dream of ocean, wind, boats!), plus someSimon and Garfunkel, George Harrison. Laurent invited me, under a very, very emotional, ovation of the audience, to join him on stage to sing "Le soleil donne " ...
Thank you Laurent, theevening will be unforgettable, like the dinner that. followed, full of memories and evocation of travels...
The month had started very well: hauling out the boat in Vava'u, Tonga where it will wait for us the time of a winter stay in France. Tonga is an archipelago blessed with dazzling lagoons and markets full of fruits and vegetables that flourish in these fertile islands. A short stop in Auckland to start preparing a new shoot in New Zealand. Flight Auckland-Papeete then Papeete-Los Angeles on one of the first flights of Air Tahiti Nui?s new aircraft, the aptly named Dreamliner. Two days in Manhattan Beach, the quiet neighborhood we like; I took the opportunity to go see A Star is Born with a large glass of chardonnay in hand, a very common practice now in US cinemas.
In Paris, a few nice television shows, Ushuaia Magazine (at the Musée du Quai d'Orsay, where I met our friend Titouan Lamazou in his new exhibition in the form of a boat-workshop, the guest of TV5 Monde, and especially Vivement Dimanche Prochain, Michel Drucker and all his team absolutely adorable, and then we took to the road, our tour starting gently at the foot of the Pyrenees, in Pau and Tarbes, then the Basque Country, where we spent a few days in a beautiful house in Guéthary, Bordeaux, Arcachon, and then Saintes and Niort. In the cinemas where the lectures take place, a funny moment in the promotional material for Gilles Lellouche's film ?Le Grand Bain?.
Bypassing some roadblocks (people have to express themselves; don?t they), we will in the coming days move away of the coast, heading for Périgueux, Bergerac, Limoges, before heading to Brittany and Normandy. The tour will end, like last year, at Maison des Océans in Paris on December 21st
I wish you an excellent month of December and a perfect end of year..
Antoine.
