December 2024
Hello everyone,
Go West Young man
After a last week in Auvergne in the fires of Autumn, we hit the road for three weeks of ta tour of CGR cinemas in the western provinces of France, to present our film about New Zealand.
Thank you to all those who came to see us, and a big, big thank you to the teams of all the CGR cinemas for their welcome!
After a brief stopover in Le Mans, we took a little tour of Brittany, pleased to meet up with our friends Philip Plisson, who had photographed me in 1985 for an advertising campaign for Gib'sea boats. Philip kept this image near his office; also a visit to our friend Jacques Lainé: former director for famous Tv program Ushuaia, he had taught me my first notions of video editing in 1991. This year he showed us the pink granite rocks - including the "rocher des amoureux", a very recognizable "Napoleon"... and theoysters of Bréhat, followed the next day by the crabs of the« Crabe Marteau » , a Brest institution.
A beautiful day also at the foot of the two lighthouses of Doelan, and a visit to the le Pocher establishments which have been supplying me for years with parts for Banana split’s Volvo engines for years.
Then we went to Charentes, for a great success at the CGR in La Rochelle, and a touching invitation from the children of the La Genette school, who, under the guidance of their teacher, a native of Reunion Island, offered me a little show on the theme of my song Touchez Pas à la Mer ( Be nice to the sea)
We then headed south, towards Tarnos Beach and its psychedelic bunker. At Tarnos’s CGR cinema three Tahitian dancers were celebrating the success of Moana 2 ( called Vaiana 2 in France ! ) Then a fun stopover in the Air Bnb of an inventive host, and, at the foot of the Pyrenées, in the cemetery of Tarbes, a moving visit to the tomb of Star French accordionist Yvette Horner, whom I had (gently) criticized (as I did for French rock legend Johnny Hallyday ) in my Hit song lesElucubrations: I am not crazy about visiting cemeteries, but their two tombs, in Tarbes and Saint Barth, were picturesque and colorful!
On December 8th, we’ll leave for Australia, via Tahiti and Auckland, to sail the winter months aboard Banana Split along the coasts of Queensland and New South Wales. We'll tell you all about it!
Have a great December everyone!
