March 2015
Hello everyone,
A song by the late French singer Michel Berger lingers in my mind:
I send you my images
I send you my decor
I send you my smiles on days when I feel stronger
I send you my journeys
My airport days...
I suppose I have already told you, I have always enjoyed "airport days" ! I am writing you these words from a super comfortable business lounge at Bangkok airport (good to know, when you take a local flight, you can buy for a small fee (100 euros on our Bangkok-Luang Prabang) a "stanby upgrade" which gives you access to a world of comfort, no waiting lines, check-in on a sofa, and gargantuan buffet. Neither Francette nor I would spend a penny for a luxury watch, a branded piece of clothing or a car more expensive than a tiny Renault Clio, but there are two areas in which we do not try to save. IT and high tech equipment that allows us to create at the end of the world (at the moment when I write, Francette is processing on her Mac Book Air, with Adobe Lightroom, the pictures that illustrate this post), and a second area, the comfort of our travels.
Many flights these days indeed: one week spent in Burma (or Myanmar), from which come the pictures attached: a lot of pagodas, where the piety of the monks and the Burmese prayers is only disturbed by the ubiquitous smartphones; the "long tail" thunderous (the ancestors of the famous "Motogodille") on Inle Lake where traditional fishing methods give fishermen chaplinesque silhouettes; then a short stopover in Bangkok to film the bridge over the River Kwai and some southern islands (see our calendar); and in a few hours we'll leave for Laos.
I'll tell you all about it here next month, but in the meantime, why not take a look at our Facebook page « Les voyages d'Antoine ». It's in French, but the language of photography doesn't need Google translate !
Have a March as bright as one by John Philip Sousa.
Antoine
